Zurich West has played an important historical role in Switzerland’s industrial development – it now focuses its attention on cool cultural hubs, trendy restaurants, beautiful design stores as well as unique architecture and art. This 2.5-3h walking tour looks at the (culinary) history of Zurich West and showcases how truly international our food scene has become over the years. You will get to try 15+ delicious foods and beverages, incl. 2 sit-down tastings. This tour is vegetarian- and vegan-friendly.

How do I buy tickets for one of the INDULGE food experiences? Can I pay cash?

Tickets can be purchased through our website, payment options include PayPal or Visa, MasterCard and AMEX. Tickets must be purchased at least 24 hours in advance, we recommend booking well in advance to guarantee the day, time and number of tickets that you prefer. Cash payment or walk-up traffic on the day of the tours will not be accepted.

How much food will I get?

You will get enough food throughout the tour, the tastings usually equal a good-sized meal. We can guarantee that nobody will leave our tours hungry!

Do you accommodate allergies or dietary preferences?

We will try our best to accommodate the special dietary needs of our guests, however, we cannot guarantee that this will always be possible. Please identify your dietary needs/preferences (e.g. vegetarian, gluten-free, nut-free etc.) when you book, so that our guides know in advance and will be able to identify items you might want to avoid. If you have life-threatening allergies, we would not recommend taking one of our food experiences.

Do you serve beverages/alcohol during the tour?

You will get a water bottle at the beginning of each tour, and there will always be water/sometimes other non-alcoholic beverages for the sit-down tastings. Some of our food experiences also include alcoholic drink samples at some of the stops. Occasionally, we offer the opportunity to buy an additional glass of wine or beer with some of the tastings for people who are interested. Please note that these are extras that have to be paid separately.

Can I bring children on the tour?

Our food experiences are not suitable for children under 6 years old, we also don’t have a “children price” as we only offer one tasting size. Parents know their children best, so should assess the situation individually. Please note that our tours are approximately 3 hours long, and some children have a limited attention span. Also, there will be a lot of standing and walking, please keep this in mind when deciding whether our tours are appropriate for your children.

What happens if it rains or snows?

Our food experiences usually take place rain, shine or snow. Please dress according to the weather conditions and bring an umbrella, if necessary.

Are your food tours handicap accessible?

Unfortunately not. Our food tours are walking tours and not all roads/stops are wheelchair accessible.

Are bathrooms available during the tours?

Yes, bathrooms are available throughout the tour. Our guides will point out where you can find them.

Do I need to buy a ticket if I’m not eating on the tour?

We cannot accept any non-paying individuals on any of our tours. The ticket price not only covers the food tastings but also your guide’s salary who will tell you many historical, cultural and culinary stories throughout our food experiences.

If the tour that I want is sold out on the date of my choice, can I get on a waiting list?

No, we do not provide waiting lists. If a date and time is sold out, there is a chance that we will add an additional tour on that day. Please contact us if you do not see any availability, make sure to include the date that you are interested in as well as your group size.

I loved everything about this tour – from our guide Emma’s fascinating insights and stories, to the proud historic industrial buildings that set the stage for all the delicious food we got to discover in between. The tastings themselves spanned the globe, the food ranging from completely local, to halfway round the planet. And actually, ‘tastings’ is an understatement, portions were generous and the food delicious. Great group too! We had so much fun discussing the finer points of food that a few of us prolonged the 3-hour tour with drinks, there are more than enough stylish or homey cafes and bars to choose from. I’ll be back to discover more off the beaten path surprises in this fascinating part of town! (Personal tip: shopping!)

We thoroughly enjoyed the Zurich West tour! We had the pleasure of meeting Yuan who took us out during our tour. She was outstanding, very personable and incredibly informative, which really made a difference for us. Yuan had great depth about the incredible food we were eating, along with the history behind each stop. This made the experience particularly memorable and one of the best moments of our trip!

I would highly recommend this tour and Yuan as your guide while visiting Zurich!

This was just a surprisingly amazing experience. Having been living in Zurich for many years I was so impressed by the variety of food stores and shops which I would have probably never discovered without this tour. So even if you are not a tourist, this tour will most likely give you much more insights together with interesting personal stories of the people “behind the food” and also about the district “Zurich West” itself. Our guide Emma did a great job, answered all our questions and made sure everyone including vegetarians and vegans were accommodated (best “vegan curry wurst” I ever had although I am not a real vegan).

«Ich dachte eigentlich, ich kenne die gastronomischen Angebote in Zürich West wie meine Westentasche. Yuan zeigte mir jedoch viele überraschende Spezialitäten, angereichert mit spannenden Hintergrundgeschichten und reichhaltigen Amuse-Bouches!»
